Finally after a long wait, the civic administration of the city decided to conduct the maintenance work at Yashwant Stadium, situated in the heart of the city, and determined to cut the weeds and grass from the ground. Players of Nagpur District Handball Association, after several requests, had decided to clear their playing area.
Dr Sunil Bhotmange, Secretary of NDHA, had contributed financial assistance for the cleaning purpose. The work of cutting of weeds and grass started a couple of days back but still the ground is not fully playable. NMC Sports Officer Piyush Ambulkar said that they have started the work of mowing the grass a few days back. A chemical has been sprayed to dry up the weeds and bushes. The ground will be clear in a week’s time, he assured.
