Maharashtra sports minister Sunil Kedar stated that golf course should be developed for school students on the land adjoining to synthetic track at Divisional Sports Complex, Manakapur to encourage the sports and national level golf players should come up in future. He was attending a meeting of an executive committee of the Divisional Sports Complex at the divisional commissioner office. Minister directed the concerned officials to complete the pending works including maintenance of 400 m athletic track and youth hostel as early as possible.
He informed that the Sports Complex Committee has already handed over Rs 2 crore to PWD for the renovation of hostel and its maintenance. The lease of the Divisional Complex had already expired in 2015, but the district collector has sent the proposal to the revenue department for a 15 year lease more. The minister also informed that Rs.30 lakh has been given to PWD for the maintenance of synthetic track and compound wall. Minister also said that Nagpur city has a number of talented badminton players. Therefore; there is a need to have an international-level academy in the city. The proposal of a swimming tank at divisional sports complex premises was also tabled before the committee.
