Every frame in the film is very annoying. The movie starts off with the animated opening in which we get the back story of how coolie named Raju played by Varun Dhawan became a coolie.
The Bollywood referencing and winking self-awareness makes the film very formulated. The beginning is very dull and the rest of the film is very distasteful and unfunny. The narrative is dated and offensive on so many levels. The story remains the same.
Random action sequence out of nowhere makes the film dull and overlong. The dialogues of the film do the real damage. Sara Ali Khan is reduced to dancing and making faces. Varun Dhavan’s talent is completely wasted.
The music of the film is just remixed with no originality. Coolie number 1 is just a taste of their patience.
Starring Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal, Jaaved Jaaferi, Rajpal Yadav is a remake of the 1995 Govinda-Karishma Kapoor Directed by David Dhawan which itself was a remake of the telugu film ‘Chinmai Mapilai’.
