An initiative to promote tourism in Mogarkasa reserved forest, the Nagpur forest division has commenced developing an Eco Tourism Complex at Mogarkasa Lake. Along with this, a safari route from Salai to Bawanthadi has been planned. This project is indeed an ambitious project and the Eco Tourism Complex is being conceived by the deputy conservator of forest of Nagpur forest division Dr.Prabhu Nath Shukla.As per information, the wildlife species in Mogarkasa include tiger, leopard, sloth bear, spotted deer, sambhar, wild dogs and others.DCF Shukla stated that the Mogarkasa area has been popular among people as tourist destination for many years.
With an aim of providing boost to tourism in this area and livelihood to local community, this project is being developed. The total outlay for this project is approximately Rs.180 crore out of which Rs.1.20 crore have been received from District Planning Committee. There will be total six elevated non-air conditioned tents in this tourist complex which is expected to be completed by March. The accommodation charges will be around Rs.2500 per day. The project will be run by Joint Forest Management Committee, Salai.
