It has been stated that the sudden tweaking of the admission process in the engineering degree courses is likely to deprive about 65000 backward class students belonging to SC, ST, OBC, VJNT categories of their chance to get admissions. As per information, all the concerned have to bear the brunt of the error done by the official clerk. It has been alleged that the clerical mistake has proved costly and is injustice to the students of backward classes.
They have demanded to amend the mistake without any delay. Engineer Kuldeep Ramteke stated that even after completion of the admission process of the first year of the engineering degree in the state, the vacant reserved seats were supposed to be filled with merit list candidates from the backward class only. But this process has been changed from the academic year 2019-2020.Under this, if the reserved seat of any category is vacant, that seat will not be filled with other categories of backward classes. The engineering branch has a total of 1.30 lakh seats in the state. Of these, SC, ST, OBC and VJNT categories have 65000 seats. But the changes in the admission process will affect the students of backward classes. Ramteke stated that the government has not made any such change. This change has been done only due to the mistake of the official clerk while deciding the rules for admission of engineering faculty only.
