Nagpur bagged 17th place as happiest city in India; Second In Maharashtra after Pune

Nagpur known as the city of oranges has now added one more feather in its cap, by bagging 17th place in the Indian Cities Happiness Report 2020. Pune, which has attracted lakhs of people yet has guarded its essence, has found a place as the happiest city. It ranked 12th across the country while standing first in the state crossing over Mumbai and Nagpur.
Among the 25 cities surveyed in the state, Pune, Mumbai, and Nagpur made it into the top list. Nagpur bagged 17th position in the All India survey while Mumbai was in 21st position.


These are the findings of a survey which was conducted by ‘Indian Cities Happiness Report 2020’, between October 2020 to November 2020. The study was done by Rajesh Pilania. As many as 13,000 people were surveyed across the country and 34 cities were selected.
Rajesh has been researching in management for a decade now. Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh grabbed the first three positions while in two-tier cities Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and New Delhi became the happiest cities. Similarly, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Surat to have found a place in two-tier city’s happiness index.
Factors that decided the happiness index
The happiness index was based on age, education, earnings, and the general amenities one needs for living a comfortable life. Interestingly, bachelors are found to be happier than married ones.
Many cities from Gujarat state found a place in the all India survey.
