The Nagpur District Amateur Cycle Polo Association and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) jointly organised a cycle polo practice camp and coaching centre at the NMC ground in Wathoda, Prabhag 26, here on Saturday.
The newly elected mayor of the city Dayashankar Tiwari was the chief guest of the opening ceremony and inaugurated the new centre.
Students of NMC-run schools and kids from adjoining areas and schools can participate in the camp, which will be held daily in two sessions. The morning session will be held from 7 to 9, while the evening session will take place from 4 to 6.
Mayor promised all the help to the new centre and declared that NMC will always support the cycle polo association’s efforts in promoting the game in the region.
East Nagpur MLA Krisha Khopde presided over the function. Deputy mayor Manisha Dhawade, opposition party leader Tanaji Wanave, NMC standing committee chairman Vijay Pintu Zalke, sports committee chairman Pramod Chikhale, Dharmapal Meshram, Nagesh Sahare, Samita Chakole, former deputy mayor Manisha Kothe, Bhagwan Mendhe and others were present on the occasion.
General secretary of the Nagpur District Amateur Cycle Polo association Gajanan Burde, Dinesh Sarve, Milind Patle, Uttam Itankar, Sanjay Tijare and other officials will coordinate the camp and new training centre.
