In the wake of growing avian influenza across the country, the District Animal Husbandry Department officials are on alert. The officials are creating public awareness and have appealed people to give quick information in case they found or notice unusual deaths of birds in poultry farms, around water bodies or other places.
It may be noted that the bird flu has now spread in ten states of the country that includes Maharashtra and there is urgent need for the administration to take adequate preventive measures in regard.
“We have sent the samples to the lab in Bhopal and are awaiting reports. We have already started spreading awareness among people and have urged them to inform nearby veterinary hospital immediately in case they found unusual deaths of the birds,†informed Dr Devendra Katre, Livestock Development Officer (LDO).
He also informed that separate tehsil level RRT (Rapid Response Teams) was also formed for taking quick action over reports they receive. They have also asked poultry farm owners for regular sanitisation of their farms and to follow SOPs in strict manner.
