In order to make city roads and footpaths encroachment free, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will be implementing encroachment removal drive daily in all zones in the city, from Monday.
NMC Commissioner, Radhakrishnan B, has directed the officials, Mahesh Moroney, Deputy Commissioner, and Assistant Commissioners to take up daily drive of encroachment removal in all zones simultaneously.
He also said that effective action should be seen in all zones daily and responsibility should be given to ward teams including Junior Engineer, Sanitary Inspector, Civil Engineering Assistant, and eight labourers should be exclusively spared for this activity.
Radhakrishnan B further warned that in
case of lethargic attitude towards encroachment removal, responsibility of the official concerned would be fixed.
Departmental enquiry would be initiated and administrative action would be taken in such cases, he added.
Instructions has also been given to all Assistant Commissioners of zones to act accordingly.
He has also appealed to the encroachers to refrain from occupying footpaths and roads. For, as the citizens of this city, it is the irresponsibility to think of the betterment of the city and pedestrians must be able to move freely on footpaths.
It is worth mentioning here, that material seized under this drive shall not be returned in any case. Auction of the material seized during such drives will be done monthly.
