Citizens in half of city are going to face major problem regarding discharge of household and establishments garbage as contract employees of BVG have resorted to flash strike to protest expulsion. About 130 employees were discharged by the company even as they reported for the work. The company had sent a letter to registered address about discontinuation of their contract. Similarly, each one’s account was credited with salary of Rs 60,000.
The worker engaged in door to door garbage collection and its segregation had no inkling of their sacking and worked normally on Saturday. AG Enviro has bagged rights for garbage collection in Gandhibagh, Satranjipura, Lakadganj, Mangalwari and Aasi Nagar Zones of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) namely Gandhibagh. The workers immediately relayed the receipt of notice to other and from Saturday only, all of them resorted to flash strike. All the 130 workers and others have closed ranks and decided to take matters head on. They have given time till Monday for BVG Enviro to revoke their sacking and take back all workers on job or else they threatened to stage agitation at NMC head office at Civil Lines.
