On the occasion of 73rd Army Day on Friday, in the spirit of a noble effort to mitigate the hardships and provide organisational support as per true traditions of the Indian Army, three ‘Veer Naris’ from Nagpur and Gondia districts were felicitated by Station Headquarters, Kamptee. Brigadier Deepak Sharma, Commandant, Guards Regimental Centre, Station Commander, presented a cheque of Rs 30,000 to each ‘Veer Nari’.
Also, the issues related to pension and other emoluments in respect of these ‘Veer Naris’ were addressed during the function. The event was attended by service personnel and their families from the station. Army Day is celebrated every year in India, in recognition of taking over by Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief on January 15, 1949. Army Day marks a day to salute and honour the valiant solders who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens.
