Good initiative indeed, traffic cops to be equipped with body worn cameras

It is really a good initiative as the traffic police personnel deployed in inter sections and squares will be equipped with body worn camera. The camera will record evidence of every second. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh distributed body worn camera to traffic police personnel on Sunday. It is a common fact that most of the time the traffic cops engaged into dispute with vehicle drivers. Many people behave indecently with the police personnel and body worn cameras are being used to deal with such situations. Recently commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar had demanded 1000 body worn cameras.

The home department has approved 200 cameras. The home minister in a function gave away 10 cameras to 10 police personnel. This camera will be made available to the personnel who come in contact with the citizens continuously at major intersections and squares. With this, if the employee does any unlawful work during the duty it will also be revealed. Home minister Anil Deshmukh said that many works have been done for the modernization of the state police throughout the year. Now loudspeakers will also be installed along with CCTV.This helps in informing or making citizens aware. In Mumbai, poles have also been installed along with the traffic signal. So that the driver can know whether the signal is stopped or started from a distance.
