Saksham -2021 is an important national programme initated by Government of India for energy security, sustainable development and environment protection of country, said G K Deshmukh, Senior Manager Indian Oil Corporation, while addressing a press conference on Friday.
He added that the ultimate goal of the programme is to crub wasteful expenditure on fossil fuel, reduce the growing burden on foreign exchequer and protect the environment from the adverse effect of green houses gases emanating from burning of fossil fuels.
Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and State Level coordination of Oil Industry take up various initiatives with the active involvement and support from the concerned State Government to spread mass awareness.
PCRA has been in the forefront to create mass awareness towards conservation of petroleum products, promoting fuel-efficient equipment nd helping the Government in proposing policies and strategies for petroleum conservation. Saksham-2021 has been organized during January 16 to Feburary 15, with a tag line ‘Green and Clean Energy’ all over the country.
As a part of this, oil industry in Maharashtra organized virtual inagurual funcation on January 16 in the auspicious presence of Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharashtra.
The various activities will be carried out during the month are, fuel conversation in schools and colleges, petrol pumps, gas agencies, campaigns on fuel conservation through technical meets, workshop, group talk, campaigns for clubs, societies, NGOs, group etc, fuel efficient driving contest, talk show on TV/radio etc. Around 24 types, 2000 activities will be conducted in Maharashtra during Saksham-2021.
PCRA Awards for Best Depots at State level on fuel conservation for the year October 2019 to September 2020 were declared to BEST-Mumbai, MSRTC-Mumbai and PMPML-Pune based on 4 categories. Annual trophy and cash award would be given to the best depot on ‘Maximum improvement in KMPL’ over previous year. Also present at the press conference were Akshit Gangwal, Senior Sales Manager at IOC and Rajiv Narwekar, Manager BPCL.
