On the third day of the Test match, a big achievement has been registered by England’s captain Joe Root as he slammed his fifth double-century in Test cricket in the ongoing match against India at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
With this ton Root has created history and became the first player in international cricket to slam a double ton in his 100th Test. Earlier, record of the highest score in the 100th Test was held by former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq who scored 184 runs against India in 2005.
The England skipper didn’t play a single loose shot en route to his 200 which makes it even more sublime. This is the fourth double century overall of Root’s Test career. He hit 15 fours and a six during this period.
Root also completed 8000 runs of his Test career during this period. He has become the seventh batsman in England to achieve this feat. Root, one of the best batsmen of modern cricket, did this feat in his 98th Test. Root had earlier scored a total of 7823 runs in 97 Test matches which included 17 centuries and 49 fifties
