Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways on Sunday inaugurated the The1.2km new Khapri Railway over Bridge RoB constructed at the cost of Rs 70.98 crore.Regarding the new Khapri RoB, Gadkari said that people travelling from Nagpur to Wardha stretch on Nagpur-Hyderabad National Highway had to face inconvenience due to railway crossing. “Phase-IIof Nagpur Metro rail project will connect rural areas in the periphery including Hingna, Kamptee, Kanhan, Umiya Dham to Nagpur city. Now, the detailed project report of Phase-III is being prepared. In Phase-III, Nagpur Metro will beconnected to Amravati Roadâ€, he said.
The new RoB will provide a relief to them. He assured to hold a meeting with Railways regarding 81 pending RoBs and also RoB at Wardha. Bhoomipujan of various other projects including‘white-topping’ of 5.6 km stretch from Rahate Colony to Khapri RoB at the cost of Rs 114 crore through National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), 3.10 km concrete road work from Khapri RoB to Manish Nagar level crossing at the cost ofRs 27 crore, 1 km concrete road construction from Gandhi Sagar lake to Ashok Chowk at the cost of Rs 24 crore was performed on the occasion. Referring to these works, Gadkari said that the works will commence in right earnest. Due to road network, Butibori RoB, improved connectivity with Nagpur Metro rail project, technology companies in MIHAN and Nagpur’s emergence as logicstics hub will generate jobs for youths of the region, he added. The detailed project reports of fountain show at Futala and University Campus-RTO flyover also were finalised and the work would start soon. Anil Deshmukh, Home Minister, joined the programme through video link. He urged Gadkari to expedite work of four laning of Nagpur-Katol road. In response, Gadkari said that the work would be started as soon as Forest Department permission was received.
