The five member election committee of High Court Bar Association has declared 250 member lawyers as defaulters and has taken away their voting right. The final voter list was issued on Tuesday which has 1847 lawyers who will be able to vote in association election. The lawyers not depositing membership fee up to December 31, 2020 were declared as defaulters by the election committee.
As per the constitutional provisions of the association, directive was given in election programme to deposit membership fee up to December 31, 2020 to get voting rights in election. Despite of this, 250 lawyers did not follow the directive. Apart from this, lawyers getting membership on January 20, 2020 and afterwards will not be able to cast their votes. The nomination papers will be issued from Wednesday. The election committee has Firdoz Mirza, Prakash Meghe, Bhanudas Kulkarni, Arun Patil and Sangram Sirpurkar.
