The number of COVID-19 cases seeing an upward trajectory for the past few days in Nagpur district has raised serious concerns. The administration has asked everyone to strictly follow the norms of physical distancing and always wear face masks in public. Local authorities have been instructed to impose heavy penalties on people not following the rules.
On February 17, the district reported more than 500 cases on a third consecutive day. With getting 596 people positive for the virus in the day the total number reached 140384. Today 5 people succumbed to the virus-borne disease taking the tally of deaths to 4247.
As per the official report, out of the total positive cases, 95 were from rural areas and 499 from Nagpur city alone. Meanwhile, from the total deaths, 1 was reported from Nagpur city and 2 each from outside the district and the rural areas.
After the fresh updates, the total active cases in the city now stands at 4717 including asymptomatic cases advised for home isolation.
With 279 recoveries in the day, the cumulative number of recovered cases rose to 131141 (including 70135 home isolation recoveries). The recovery rate recorded today was 93.61 percent.
Today’s 596 positive cases were reported from various hospitals.
