The number of COVID-19 cases seeing an upward trajectory for the past few days in Nagpur district has raised serious concerns. The administration has asked everyone to strictly follow the norms of physical distancing and always wear face masks in public. However, citizens continue to take the virus lightly which may result in strict lockdown in the city.
On February 18, the district crossed the 600 mark with 644 positive cases in the day. Today’s count is the highest in the last 72 days. The total number of cases has reached 141028. Today 6 people succumbed to the virus-borne disease taking the tally of deaths to 4253.
As per the official report, out of the total positive cases, 67 were from rural areas and 574 from Nagpur city alone.
Meanwhile, from the total deaths, 1 was reported from rural area, 2 from Nagpur city and 3 from outside the city.
After the fresh updates, the total active cases in the city now stand at 5105 including asymptomatic cases advised for home isolation.
With 250 recoveries in the day, the cumulative number of recovered cases rose to 131670 (including 71946 home isolation recoveries). The recovery rate recorded today was 93.36 percent.
Today’s 644 positive cases were reported from various hospitals.
