The civic authority of the city has made plan to hand over’ Apli Bus’ service to Maha Metro due to financial crisis. As per information, a proposal of hand over would be presented before the meeting of transport committee scheduled on coming Thursday. As per the details, the handover will take place by following due rules and condition.
NMC has to spend Rs.164.83 crore annually on ‘Apli Bus’ service and income generated through it is only Rs.64.46 crore with a shortfall of Rs.100 crore.Besides this,NMC will have to bear the expenditure of 40 electric buses to be received from Union Government. Before the pandemic, NMC use to run 360 red buses with the help of three red bus operator and one electric bus operator. The proposal of handover of bus service to Maha Metro will be sent to general meeting and then it will be sent to state and Union Governments for approval.
