For upliftment amongst the transgender, HIV persons, sex workers & allied and community and help them to set up their own enterprise to become self employed and become self reliant, MSME-DI Nagpur jointly with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Nagpur recently organized a meeting for transgender, HIV persons, and allied identified by DLSA, Nagpur at MSME-DI Conference Hall, Nagpur. The objective of the programme was to create awareness amongst the transgender, HIV persons, and allied about the Cluster development scheme of Ministry of MSME and to encourage them to form a cluster of Agarbatti by giving them skill and entrepreneurship development Training and to motivate them to start their own small ventures by forming cluster.
P M Parlewar, Director, MSME-DI, Nagpur, Shri Abhijeet Deshmukh, Civil Judge & Secretary, DLSA Nagpur, Rajendra Rathi, Member, DLSA, Shri Nikunj Joshi, Anand Chandnani, Dr. Bhavesh Jain, Anchal Verma, from Sarathi Trust, Nagpur, Rani Dhawle, KVSS and officers from MSME-DI Nagpur were present during the meeting. This will be a pilot project initiated by MSME-DI, Nagpur in collaboration with DLSA Nagpur to help the Transgender, sex workers, and HIV persons and allied. While addressing, Parlewar briefed the participants about the object and the need of such kind of programme.
He spoke on the flagship scheme of Cluster Development of Ministry of MSME. He said that under this scheme, MSME-DI, Nagpur will help people like Transgender, HIV persons, Sex Workers and allied to set up Agarbatti cluster of approx. 100 persons.
Under the cluster, MSME-DI will guide them right from raw material procurement to selling marketing and branding of their manufactured product. He said that to start any enterprises, Skill is needed then only the entrepreneur can sustain in the cut throat competition.
Similarly, best quality products should be manufactured. He urged the Sarathi Trust members to come forward and support this innovative project by encouraging maximum people from their community. Abhijeet Deshmukh, Civil Judge & Secretary, DLSA in his address spoke on the objective of District Legal Services Authority.
He said that lack of collective bargaining power, the unorganized workers are unable to put forth their grievances and demands, due to which they are susceptible to exploitation. The aim of DLSA is to bring transgender, HIV persons, sex workers and allied on a common platform and create awareness amongst them about entrepreneurship and make them self employed. For this purpose, DLSA and MSME-DI Nagpur have joined hands to work collectively for them. He urged the women participants to take maximum benefit of the government schemes.
It was decided during the meeting that the first step in this Innovative project will be MSME-DI Nagpur will organize Workshop wherein bankers will also be invited to speak on schemes and subsidies available with them for the empowerment of this section of society. Similarly, Adhaar card camp will also be organized. MSME-DI, Nagpur will provide training to the prospective entrepreneurs.
