The authorities at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, were held in tight corner by the government administration. The orders issued by the District Collector and Municipal Commissioner to cancel the examinations led to frustration of B Ed-1st Semester students. At the same time the University authorities had to cancel the examination at the eleventh hour.
The B Ed students who were admitted in 2019, were supposed to appear for first semester examination during winter 2019. Director of Examinations and Evaluation Dr Prafull Sable stated that their examinations could not be held during winter 2019, because of inordinate delay in completing the admission procedure.
The examination was then scheduled for March 2020. The examination began on March 16 and later lockdown was announced across the nation on March 22. The remaining part of the examination was again scheduled for October 2020. This too was required to be postponed due to the spread of Coronavirus.
Now the examinations were to be held on February 24 and 26. However, directions issued on Wednesday again compelled the University to cancel the examinations. The notice about cancellation of the examinations of winter 2918, was issued about an hour before the commencement of the examination.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Choudhary also released a video explaining the situation for postponing the examinations.
Dr Sable stated that even if the examinations are delayed, their classes, mostly on-line, have been started even for the third semester.
