Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has announced that the Maharashtra class 10 and 12 board exams 2021 will not be cancelled, and students will have to appear for the exams this year, despite the ongoing pandemic. The education minister made this announcement to dismiss the reports that the Class 10 examination has been cancelled in Maharashtra for the safety of the students due to the surge in coronavirus cases in the state. Amid the spike in the number of cases in Maharashtra, schools where coronavirus cases have been found, local authorities have been directed to ensure that necessary hygiene and disinfection measures are taken, state education minister Varsha Gaikwad said.
The education minister further said that considering the rise in cases in some districts, the local administration has been asked to close schools for some time from March 1, if the school authorities deem it necessary.
Maharashtra board exam 2021 dates
Earlier, education minister Varsha Gaikwad had also stated the dates of the Maharashtra Board Exams 2021 for students of classes 10 and 12. The exams are usually held in February and March, which have to be rescheduled due to the ongoing pandemic. This year the theory examinations for both the classes will be conducted in the months of April and May.
The practical exams for Class 12 will be held between April 1 and 22, and for Class 10 between April 9 and 28. “The written exams for Class 12 will be held between April 23 and May 29, and for Class 10 between April 29 and May 31. We are trying to declare the results of Classes 12 and 10 by July-end and August-end, respectively,” the minister said.
To relieve some of the academic pressure for the students appearing in the board examinations this year, the state has already reduced the syllabus of the exams by 25 percent due to the ongoing pandemic situation, Varsha Gaikwad had said.
