Amravati: In the wake of sudden spurt in COVID-19 cases, the existing lockdown in Amravati and Achalpur has been extended till March 8. Meanwhile, Anjangaon Surji village has been declared a containment zone after more cases were reported from here. However, shops selling essential commodities will be allowed to remain open from 8 am to 3 pm.
Spike in COVID-19 cases is being reported from many districts in Maharashtra after strict guidelines were imposed these districts. A curfew was also announced in Yavatmal district from February 27 to March 1. “Curfew imposed in Yavatmal district from 5 pm on Saturday to 9 am on Monday, essential services will continue during this curfew,” District Collector M Devender Singh said.
In Nagpur, schools, colleges, and coaching classes have been forced to remain shut till March 7. Nitin Raut, who is the guardian minister of Nagpur city, had said that main markets will remain shut on weekends. However, hotels and restaurants can run at 50 percent capacity.
