Amidst of soaring fuel prices, a city youth named Prasad Pande,a Software Test Engineer of Nagpur has come up with an innovation which is in the true sense gives relief from the heat of fuel price hike. Prasad Pande, who works in Pune, has transformed his bicycle into an electric bicycle (e-bicycle) which can run 40 kms on a single charge. This electric bicycle is very interesting as it gives you a feeling of driving a no noise vehicle. This bicycle runs on electric battery and thus saves the high fuel costs to travel from one place to another. Prasad said that maintenance cost of the cycle is very low. Only air pressure needs to be checked regularly in tyres as per the normal bicycle and battery has to be charged if it is down. When the fuel charges are increasing day-by-day this bicycle is very economic and also nature and health friendly.
As per information, it took 3 months for Prasad to transform the bicycle. Even he imported some parts of the bicycle from other countries too. If the battery of the bicycle is down you can easily use the pedals to drive the bicycle back home. Battery of the bicycle is made up of Lithium Ion cells connected using 40 series parallel connected cells. Battery capacity is 36 V and 10 mAh. It takes around 4 hours to charge the battery. Maximum speed of the cycle is 30 km/h but in normal conditions it goes to 25km/h. The back wheel of the bicycle has a motor which gets its supply from the battery and controller to restrict the epower going to the motor. There is also an indicator which shows the remaining battery level. The total price to build this bicycle is just Rs 35,000 including the bicycle cost. This bicycle promotes clean energy use and does not make any air or sound pollution.
