Easter is being celebrated today by the Christians across the world, however this year the celebration is different as the city is facing second wave of COVID-19 and as a precautionary measure the administration has asked the Christian community to keep the celebration a low key affair.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the ressurection of jesus christ a special Easter vigil was conducted. Several churches in the city hosted special services adhering Covid-19 norms. Many churches telecasted the services live on various platforms to avoid huge gathering in the church.
An online stream of Holy mass on the official YouTube channel of the Archdiocese of Nagpur was also organised.
The holy day of Easter is celebrated with joy and pride by Christians all over the world and is considered one of the most auspicious days for the community. It marks Jesus Christ’s resurrection.
As mentioned in the Bible, Christ was crucified on the day of Good Friday and buried in a grave after his last supper which is commemorated as Maundy Thursday. However, on the third day when his disciples visited his grave, they found that the grave was empty. The day marks the triumph of Christ over death and this also makes him the ‘Son of God’. The day is celebrated with pomp and grandeur every year.
