The ban on ‘Single Use’ plastic seems to be ignored as despite strict restrictions the use of plastic is still seen in many places. The less attention given by the administration resulted in the use of plastics by shopkeepers without any fear, as there is no action taken against them.
The small and retail shopkeepers are giving plastics freely to customers as it is convenient to carry it across and in turn, the customers are turning blind eye towards environment and pollution. All the fruits and vegetables vendors and retail kirana shops are giving supplies and other material in plastic bags
Due to the rising corona menace in the city, the civic administration is busy with the work of containment and hence there is no check on the small vendors and retailers, who are fearlessly giving plastics to the customers.
Heaps of plastic is being collected every day from the houses. Not only this, plastic cups, plates and bowls are also being used extensively. These plastics when thrown in water bodies it pollutes the water and is also harmful for fishes and animals.
The plastic is going in the stomach of animals, choking river and nullahs. The citizens are also equally responsible for the increase in usage of the plastic.
People just don’t want to understand the amount of damage the plastic is causing to the environment and continue to stay ignorant. The climatic conditions are drastically changing, if the situation is still not controlled within the stipulated time then it will have an adverse effect on the environment.
