A move to contain Covid virus, pilgrims returning from the Haridwar Kumbh will be home quarantined. Also, the police will conduct their Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) of symptomatic patients at railway stations and airport. As per the plan, the Railway administration will share the list of passengers with their address and phone numbers with the administration. Daily, over 25 South-bound trains are passing through Nagpur railway stations. Passengers alighting these trains will be scanned under a thermal scanner. If anyone found symptomatic, he will be immediately sent for Rapid Antigen Test at Railway station itself. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar confirmed the information and said that scanning of the pilgrims returning from the Haridwar Kumbh at all entry points has been made mandatory The pilgrims have already started arriving in the city and the number is likely to increase next week.
After receiving a list of the passengers arriving from the Delhi route, the police will ask the passengers for home quarantineitself. The lists willbe also shared with the local police station and the police staff will keep watch on the quarantined persons. Sources said that the administration fears of further surge in the infection after arrival of pilgrims from the Kumbh. As the health infrastructure is already stretched due to the outbreak of the virus, the situation would be worsened if the cases increase further.
