Amidst the COVID scare and the horrific death rate due to the deadly virus an 85-year-old man, showed that humanity is still alive.While the old man himself was battling the virus, offered his bed to a young fellow with a thought that the younger one would get the lease of life.
This old man Narayanrao Bhaurao Dabhakar aka Chocolate uncle moved to his house and continued his treatment their but unfortunately succumbed to coronavirus after three days of shifting.
Narayanrao a staunch Swayamsevak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) a resident of Savitri Vihar at Wardha Road had tested positive for coronavirus.
He was known for his little gestures as he used to quench the thirst of the little ones by giving them chocolates and water bottles at public functions.
Dabhadkar was detected covid positive. His oxygen level droped to 60. Relatives were constantly searching bed for him. But no bed was available. Finally, he got the one at Indira Gandhi Hospital.
The process of registration was completed. He was about to occupy the bed. He suddenly heard a cry from
a woman whose 40-year-old husband was suffering from COVID-19. She was sitting with him begging for one bed.
Unfortunately, Hospital administration was not able to allot him the same. Dabhadkar saw that and tears rolled down his cheeks. He immediately went near the woman and offered her husband his bed, the registration of which Dabhadkar just had completed.
Dabhadkar told the medical staff, who was assisting him, “I am now 85 years old. I have lived my life. I don’t need treatment. Allot my bed to this needy man and
start treatment.â€
Dabhadkar’s relatives tried to persuade him. The doctor also told him that your life was important. His daughter tried to convince him. However, Narayanrao insisted on his decision. Eventually, his
bed was alloted to crying woman’s husband. The lifelong philanthropist, Dabhadkar died three days after this incident. ‘Chocolate Uncle’ has set an example by his decision.
