The wave of novel coronavirus is creating end-number of problems for the citizens. In view of this, All India Consumer Welfare Committee (AICWC) has asked the Union Ministry of Power and State Government to grant waiver from paying electricity bills to the consumers in Maharashtra. National president of AICWC Ashwin Mehadia has said that the power bill should be waived so long as the wave of the Covid-19 continues to create problems in state. He also stated that power insurance should be given to all power consumers of the state. Apart from this, when the Covid-19 pandemic is over, all the consumers must be given subsidy in power bill.
He also added that it has come to the notice that AICWC that many families have been affected by Covid while in many families lost their loved ones. Under such conditions, it would take a long time before these families to fully recover from this shock. He said that adding expenses incurred in Covid treatment were phenomenal. So it is necessary to grant financial aid to this families. AICWC also remarked that during such critical time gas agencies and gas companies also extend a helping hand to the consumers.
