Renowned music director Laxman of Ram-Laxman, passed away at his son’s residence in Nagpur. He was 79.
Vijay Patil, who worked as Laxman with Ram Kadam is survived by wife Shobha Patil, son Amar, two daughters, and a large number of family members and friends.
Ram-Laxman made his debut in the Hindi film industry with Rajashree Films ‘Agent Vinod’. The pair composed music for almost all the films of Dada Kondke, who had named them as Ram-Laxman.
Even after the death of Surendra Hendre, the partner in the pair Ram Laxman, in 1976, he continued music composing without deleting name of Ram. He composed music for about 75 Hindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri films. Prominent among them are — Ham Se Badhkar Kaun, Sun Sajna, Hundred Days Hum Apke Hain Kaun.
Vijay Patil started his career with M A Kadar Orchestra. Later he moved to Mumbai. He offered Kadar an opportunity to sing for a film Nyay va Fauz.
Correction His partner Ram was Surendra Hendre and not Ram Kadam, as popularly believed. Patil also worked with Ram Kadam. However, the partner in the pair Ram-Laxman was Surendra Hendres, Patil’s friend right from his earlier days. Both worked together in an orchestra in Nagpur and other parts of Vidarbha.
