After Covid-19 pandemic, the increased cases of black fungus are creating headaches for the people. Amid this situation, there are clear orders of the health department to provide medicines on mucormycosis disease to private hospitals only after the requirement of the government hospitals is fulfilled.
However, the health department is not following the order. As per information, there were 90 patients admitted to the GMCH on Saturday. One patient needs four to five Amphotericin-B Liposomal injections per day. The GMCH was allotted 90 injections but actually 84 injections were given. One private hospital was given 102 injections. The injection priced at Rs.7500 is being sold for Rs.15000 to Rs.20000 in black market. Following a lot of complaints received in this regard, the health department finally took over procurement and allotment of this injection from Sunday. The entire responsibility was entrusted to district civil surgeon. Accordingly, 696 injections were received by the district civil surgeon’s office on Sunday. The allotment order was even signed by the district collector.
