Prof Himanshu Rai, Director of Indian Institute of Management, Indore has been unanimously nominated on the Search Committee of new Vice-Chancellor of Gondwana University, Gadchiroli.
The Management Council and Academic Council of the University approved the name of Prof Rai unanimously, during its joint meeting held on Tuesday.
Fresh nomination was necessitated as Dr Rajendra Kumar Sharma, who was selected as VC of the University did not take the assignment. The Chancellor and Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had directed the University to carry out the formality of nominating its representative afresh, as Dr Sharma did not even communicate to the University for about two months after his selection on March 23.
Dr Shrinivasa Varakhedi, VC of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, ramtek was holding additional charge of Gondwana University, since completion of term Prof Dr Namdev Kalyankar on September 7, 2020.
Prof Rai is a noted academician and holds experience of working in industry also, including a stint of eight years with Tata Steel. IIM, Indore is one among top 90 institutions in the world.
