As the Maharashtra Government has eased the restrictions and allowed non-essential shops to re-open from June 1, the police will intensify their presence on the streets from 3 pm. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar said that loitering would not be allowed on the streets after 3 pm. A total of 66 nakabandi points will be in place across the city to check unnecessary movement of citizens. More than 2,500 police personnel along with 500 home guards will maintain vigil across the city. Similarly, six platoons of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Quick Response Teams, Riot Control Police will also be the part of the bandobast.
The CP said that a Public Awareness (PA) system would be used during the bandobast to make people aware about the Covid-19. More than 50 police vehicles will be used for awareness. The CP on Monday conducted a special meeting of top rank police officials including Addl CPs, DCPs and ACPs at Gymkhana. The CP directed the police officials to enforce the curbs across the city with full force after 3 pm and do not allow loitering. “The police will take stern action against those who are unnecessarily found roaming in the city,†the CP said.
