School of Scholars, (SOS) one of the renowned schools having four branches in the city have directly issued transfer certificate (TC) to class 9th and 10th class students as parents failed to pay the fees during the pandemic period.
Even parents of reputed CBSE schools including Bhavans, DPS, Saint Xaviers and around 15 other schools joined the campaign against schools forcing parents for paying fees and even giving threat of stopping online classes of students.
Parents who are in very difficult financial crises due to the ongoing lockdown are unable to pay the fees and still hav to face such unethical behavior of the school.
The parents under the banner of jagruk Palak Sanghatna recently took an appointment to meet Education Officer (EO) at Deputy Education Director’s office.
Around 150 parents gathered at the Deputy EO’s office at Dhantoli at 11:30 am. However, the parents were frustrated to know that despite of taking an appointment the EO was not present.
Furated parents started shouting slogans, and created disturbance after which police was called by the subordinate authorities.
Around 3.30 Chintamani Wanjari, Eduction Officer reached at the office.
Amit Hoshing, one of the parents while talking to The Live Nagpur informed that the parents asked EO about the previous complaint made against school taking exorbitant fees. Action taken by the Education Department, which was unanswered.
Hoshing further added that fine was already imposed on SOS for the year 2017-18, but what happened after that no one knows.
The EO has assured of enquiry against the school for sending TC to the students. A case under Right to Information act has already been filed.
Hoshing further wardned of strict action and move up to higher authorities, if proper steps are not taken.
Yogesh Pathare of Rashtshtriya Shikshak Palak Sanghatna has already filed a case against charging exhorbitant fees during the pandemic period and its result is still awaited.
