Ex-Cadet Sergeant Damini Prakash of NCC Group Headquarters, Nagpur has brought laurels to NCC and Nagpur as she got commissioned into the Indian Army recently as Lieutenant Damini Prakash after successfully completing one year training at Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
Born to Pruthvi Prakash and Vibhawari Prakash, Damini did her schooling from Providence Girls’ High School, Nagpur. She completed her Std XII and BSc from SFS College, Nagpur.
Damini underwent three years’ training in NCC from No 2 (Mah) Air Squadron NCC Nagpur and secured ‘A’ grade in both ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate examinations.
During her NCC training, Damini bagged a gold medal each in 22 firing and Skeet Shooting in Inter-Group Competition. Cadet Sergeant Damini represented
Maharashtra in All India Vayu Sainik Camp held at Bengaluru in October 2014.
Training in the NCC inspired her to pursue a career in the Indian Army.
Through NCC Special Entry Scheme, she cleared the Services Selection Board followed by the medical examinations.
Damini always took great interest in all NCC activities and was a keen sports enthusiast.
She played football, kho-kho, and took part in athletics at State level. Owing to her three-year training in NCC, she completed her military training at OTA comfortably and passed out as a sword appointment. Lt Damini Prakash owes her achievements and success to her family, NCC, teachers and friends.
