Maharashtra’s cumulative count of black fungus or mucormycosis cases reached 7,395 on Sunday, as per the state health department. While 644 people lost their live due to black fungus have died, while 2,212 have recovered from the disease.
The maximum numbers of black fungus cases are being reported in Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Solapur districts.
Nagpur recorded 16 new cases of ‘Mucormycosis’ in last 24 hours according to the official data received from the District Information Office on Sunday.
With 16 new cases the total tally of cases of Nagpur city reached to 1385. Whereas 128 have people lost their lives due to another dreaded fungal infection till date. 771 people cured and went home from the hospital till date. 448 patients are still under observation in various hospitals in the city while a total of 998 people were administered for surgery.
Meanwhile in Vidarbha region 16 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of Mucormycosis cases to 1648 while 168 people lost their lives due to the fungal infection.
870 people cured for the fungal infection till date in Vidarbha region while 1133 patients were administered for surgery.
Recently, the state government has put a cap on the rates for treatment of mucormycosis or black fungus, at private hospitals.
