Cannons found in KP to be on display
Zero Mile Metro Station will be named as Zero Mile Freedom Park Station. The formal ceremony to name the station will be held on Independence Day.
The proposal has been approved by the Heritage Committee, during its meeting held on Tuesday. The proposal was moved by Maha-Metro and submitted to the Heritage Committee. The meeting was held in the district Collectorate.
The Committee has also approved the proposal of display of Cannos, which were found during excavation at Kasturchand Park. The cannors of historical importance will add to the beauty of the station.
Striuctural Engineer P S Patankar, Head of History Department of RTMNU Dr Shubha Johari, Architect Ashok Mokha, Deputy Commissioner (revenue) Milind Meshram, Assistant Director of Town Planning Harshal Gedam were present.
Some changes in visitors gallery and underground passage way at Futala Lake, musical fountains, light and sound show were also approced during the meeting.
Structural audit of Kotwali Police Station building will be carried out. The building is heritage structure and is more than 100 years old. As per reports of VNIT, the building should not be used for more than four years. Commissioner of Police and PWD authorities have been informed to make arrangements for funds for construction of new building to accommodate Kotwali Police Station and office of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-III, informs a press note issued here.
