Bhoyar said that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation earned 19.50 crore property tax from April 1 to June 14 against 9.22 crore last year during the same period.

Now only this, those pay ing property tax before June 30 this year are being given concession upto 10 per cent in remaining tax except govern ment taxes. This scheme was proposed in the budget of the standing committee. This has been imple mented from June 7. However, those who have paid the tax already, they will also be given concessions. If they want excess tax paid back, applications will have to be made. If any. one does not apply, the excess amount will be adjusted in the next bill.

According to him, out of those who have paid property tax till now, 9,000 tax payers are dues. Whereas 29,000 tax payers have deposited the current bill. By the way, the total outstanding amount of property tax has been 678 crore.

The exemption which is being given at present, will be available only to those who pay current wealth tax. Property tax of 2236 crore was collected in the last financial year.

How will the benefit be given?

Deputy commissioner (revenue) Milind Meshram said that if any person has not received the demand note of thee current financial year, he can take the old bill to the tax collection centre and get tax of pres ent year assessed.

The property tax can be paid at the same time and con cession can be availed. For example, if anyone’s property tax is 12,000, the government taxes in it are around 2,000. The NMC tax is around 10,000. In this way, there will be a 10 per cent con cession on the amount of NMC’s share.

58 crore less GST subsidy received in April

According to bhoyar, the municipal corporation is getting 108 crore every month in the form of a GST subsidy. This was received in May and June. But the subsidy for April was 58 crore less.

The financial condition of NMC is not good due to this. Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured to speak with chief minister Uddhav Thackeray to get the pending subsidy.

As for the outstanding bills, most of them have been settled within a year. In such a situation, the municipal corporation is not in huge financial constraint.
