On the occasion of “International Yoga Day”, Nutrition Society of India, Nagpur Chapter (NSI-NC) in collaboration with NSS – Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, organized a webinar on “आयà¥à¤·à¤¯à¥‹à¤—ा”. The theme of the webinar was “Yoga for wellness & dietary modifications during different seasonsâ€.
Dr. Shakti Sharma, Co- Convener, NSI, Nagpur Chapter delivered a welcome address. Dr. Jasmine Avari, Prof & Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, shared that yoga calms down the mind and improves concentration and patience. Practicing asanas and pranayama regulates the purification of the internal system of the organs.
The Guest speaker Vaishnav Dhenge, Civil Engineer and Certified International Yoga Instructor, Nagpur, spoke on “योग संग रहे निरोगâ€. She explained that Yoga is considered to be an ancient practice that originated 5,000 years ago in India. The session was chaired by Dr. Prakash Itankar, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, RTMNU.
Dr Medha Kulkarni, Prof & Head, Dept of Swasthavritta and Yoga, All India institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, delivered a lecture on “ऋतॠ-आहार”.
She explained that season influences greatly on body functions resulting in aggravation, accumulation and pacification in respective seasons. According to Ayurveda, the human body is a constitution of bioenergy. There are also 6 tastes, known as shad rasa, which are sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent.†Seasonal regimen should be adopted to regain sound health. The session was chaired by Prof. Nilima Joshi, Nutritionist, Past president, Nutrition Society of India, Nagpur chapter. Dr. Jayshree Pendharkar, Dr. Kavita Bakshi, Dr. Kavita Gupta, Dr. Renuka Mainde, Dr. Sumeeta Jain, Kavita Kesarwani, Pradnya Bagalkote graced the occasion. The programme was compared and a formal vote of thanks was proposed by Vinita Mehta, Secretary NSI NC.
