The new Divisional Commissioner Prajakta Lavangare – Varma took over charge on Wednesday and immediately addressed a meeting of senior officers.
Varma said that the issues confronting common people will be undertaken on priority basis. She also said that the time schedule for developmental work should be followed strictly. The work of the department should be people oriented and officers should ensure efficiency to gain faith of the people. She appreciated the effective work by Nagpur division during Corona pandemic, which resulted in reducing the number of cases.
During any kind of disaster efficiency of the government employees is important. She emphasised the need for proper planning and implementation for effective completion of any assigned work.
The officers should motivate employees to voluntarily work and enjoy their work.
Varma reviewed work of all the departments. Additional Commissioner Sanjay Dhiware, Deputy Commissioners Milind Salve, Chandrabhan Parate, Shailendra Meshram, , Dhananjay Sute, Ankush Kedar, Ramesh Ade, Rajlaxmi Shah, Reshma Mali and other officers were present.
The 2001 batch IAS officer Varma started her career from Vaijapur in Aurangabad district. She also worked as Secretary of Marathi Language Department and now appointed Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur. She is the first woman Commissioner of Nagpur Division. She also held various positions as ZP CEO of Ahmednagar, District Collector of Dhule, Director General of Information and Publicity etc.
