Good news for the taxpayers as the the amount of penalty imposed on property tax during the financial years 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020 21 will be waived-off. Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari said that people are in financial trouble due to the Covid pandemic and hence the decision has been taken but for this, property tax for all three years will have to be paid in lump sum withing two months.
Tiwari made this announcement in the general meeting of the NMC held on Tuesday. NMC commissioner Radhakrishnan B will take a final decision in this regard. After that the date of implementation of the scheme will be announced.
Congress councilor Prafulla Gudhe raised the issue of waiving property tax penalty through a notice. Gudhe said that after first wave, second wave also came due to which people have come in financial trouble in Covid. A large number of people died. In such a situation, the amount of penalty on property tax should be waived. Therefore, the penalty of three years should be waived.
