Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has started the demolition work of boundary wall of houses on Wardha to clear the way for widening of stretch from Vivekanand Square till Cotton Complex, Ajni.
Excavators pulled down the concrete structures on western side of theWardha Road double decker fly-over today to start with.
The process is likely to continue for next few days. Nearly 34 house owners have been paid compensation for acquisition of five feet of land on front side of their plots.
All the plots are having sizeable frontage most of which was vacant as per construction regulation on national highway.
So for citizens there was not much hesitation in accepting hefty compensation for parting with five feet land. Many of them promptly constructed new compound walls just behind the existing wall that was now taken up for removal to enable expansion of
road that would streamline movement of traffic on the busy highway.
On Western side of bridge, NMC officials might face some difficulties in demolition of walls.
