Dr Raju Hiwase, Finance and Accounts Officer of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has been appointed its new Registrar.
With the appointment of Dr Hiwase, the uncertainty in the University, which lasted for about one year, has been removed. The post was vacant since retirement of Dr Puranchandra Meshram and was held temporarily by Dr Niraj Khati and Dr Anil Hirekhan.
Interviews for the post were held earlier and Dr Khati was selected. However, he could not get lien from his parent body – Laxminarayan Institute of Technology (LIT). Dr Khati is professor with LIT and held additional charge as Registrar after retirement of Dr Meshram. He again held the additional charge, after the first interviews were scrapped and the post was advertised again.
The then Vice-Chancellor had preferred Dr Khati. Dr Hirekhan, who is senior most Deputy Registrar, had claimed this position. Dr Hirekhan, who had moved the court, later managed to get placement as Officiating Registrar, by the Governor Bhagatsingh Koshyari. Other prominent persons in the race were Dr Abhay Mudgal, Director of Students Welfare, Dr Koreti, Head, Department of History, former Registrar of KKSU Dr Arvind Joshi etc. In all 36 persons were invited for interviews, after scrutiny of applications. The interviews were held on Monday and Tuesday.
The interviews concluded on Tuesday evening and Dr Hiwase’s name was announced as new Registrar of the University. A highly qualified Dr Hiwase, is an efficient officer of the University.
