Lt. Gen. Dr Madhuri Rajeev Kanitkar has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The announcement has been made by the Governor and Chancellor Bhagatsingh Koshyari on Tuesday.
Lt Gen Dr Kanitkar, PVSM, AVSM, is presently working as Deputy Chief Integrated Defence Staff in the Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. Born on October 15, 1960 she completed MBBS degree with Gold Medal from Armed Forces medical College, Pune, and later acquired a post-graduate degree (MD) in Paediatrics. For three years from 2017 to 2019 she was Dean of Armed Forces medical College and holds 22 years of teaching and research. She is also winner of Best Teacher Award of MUHS in the year 2008.
Lt Gen Dr Kanitkar succeeds Dr Dilip Mhaisekar, whose term ended on February 10, 2021. VC of Savitribai Phule Pune University Dr Nitin Karmalkar was holding additional charge after Dr Mhaisekar.
The Governor had constituted a committee headed by Justice (Retd) Kalpesh Jhaveri, former Chief Justice of Odisha High Court; with Director of AIIMS Prof Randeep Guleria and Secretary of Medical Education and Drugs Saurabh Vijay as members.
Lt Gen Dr Kanitkar will hold the position for a term of five years.
