Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will be adding the cleaning charging of vacant plots to the property tax of the owner.
NMC Commissioner Radhanakrishna B, said while doing a surprise inspection of houses. He said that vacant plots were the breeding grounds for larvae of dengue virus.
Due to the increasing cases of dengue in the city, vacant plots with grown grasses, waterlogging, ponds, etc have become suitable places for the dengue larvae, which need to be cleaned by NMC if the owner failed to do. Hence NMC will be cleaning and adding the charges to the property bill.
Commissioner also ordered to take action against those illegally parking their vehicles on open grounds. He appealed to people to keep the cooler tank and places where water accumulates dry.
NMC is carrying surveys in the city and especially in the localities where dengue cases are found.
