Sandeep Itkelwar has been nominated as Trustee on Board of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT). At present Itkelwar is associated with Shiv Sena and is District President looking after the Assembly constituencies of Umrer, Ramtek and Kamptee in Nagpur district.
Itkelwar’s father, Late Vasantrao Itkelwar was elected as MLA from Umrer during 1999 to 2004 term.
A notification was issued by Urban Development Departmentabout filling-up of second vacancy for non-official member on NIT’s Board.
Sandeep is a quite a new entrant to political field and is associated with Shiv Sena for past four years.
Even Sena circles were taken by surprise on learning about Itkelwar’s nomination as Trustee on NIT’s Board, given his low profile in political field. His elder brother Vinod Itkelwar was associated with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and had served on board of MSEB in past.
The other non-official member is Vikas Thakre, MLA, and President, Nagpur City Congress Committee.
Thakre was nominated to NIT during last year itself and the second post was filled after a gap of one year. The political circles had expected a nominee of NCP to be nominated on NIT given the fact that party expects to match its ally.Congress party in the city politics.
