Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court consisting of Justice A S Chandurkar and Justice G A Sanap has quashed on Friday the First Information Report (FIR) bearing crime no: 211 of 2021 dated 26-3-2021 against M S Reddy, Additional Chief Conservator of Forest and Field Director of Melghat Tiger Reserve, in suicide case of Dipali Chavan, Range Forest Officer, Harisal.
Dharni Police Station had registered an offence against Reddy punishable under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
Dipali Chavan had committed suicide on March 25 by firing from her service rifle. She left a suicide note that clearly mentioned that that she committed this extreme act because of harassment made by Vinod Shivkumar, Deputy Conservator of Forest. She had also drawn attention of Reddy towards troubles being given by Shivkumar. Dharni police had filed an culpable homicide offence against Reddy for being responsible in the matter.
Shivkumar underwent MCR and recently the court granted him bail.
