Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested its own Sub-inspector for leaking confidential report relating to charges against former Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The report ‘CBI granting clean chit to Anil Deshmukh’ became viral, raising question about secrecy at CBI. On Wednesday evening CBI arrested Deshmukh’s son-law Gaurav Chaturvedi and lawyer for enquiry. Chaturvedi was allowed to go after 20 minutes. The lawyer, Anand Daga, however, was in the CBI custody for further enquiry.
The CBI Sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari, allegedly took bribe from persons close to Deshmukh and leaked confidential papers. The information was given by CBI officer R C Joshi to a new group.
Raids at locations connected to Abhishek Tiwari in Prayagraj and Delhi are being conducted by CBI.
Tiwari was in contact with Deshmukh’s lawyer. CBI is investigating into Tiwari-Deshmukh and his lawyer’s connection, in charges of money laundering and extortion against Deshmukh.
The enquiry has taken a different turn with involvement of CBI Sub-inspector in leaking confidential documents and taking bribe from the accused Anil Deshmukh.
