An amount of Rs 5 lakh was stolen from dicky of a two-wheeler by some unidentified miscreant in the afternoon on Wednesday. Ramesh Admane, Forester in Social Forestry Department, had withdrawn the amount from the bank and kept it in the dicky.
Sadar police informed that Admane had parked his vehicle near Range Forest Office, Seminary Hills, while on his way to the office to urinate. He returned to his vehicle in some minutes and then he received a phone call from his friend. He reached to the administrative building no: 2, Civil Lines, under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station, and went to Godwa Tea Stall for a cup of tea by parking the vehicle outside the building. Interestingly, the Social Forestry Department is situated in the same building but he first went to the stall.
When he opened the dicky for taking the bag containing money he was stunned not to see it in it. It seems that somebody must have followed him from the bank and stole the bag when got opportunity. Admane lodged a complaint with Sadar Police Station. PSI Awhale registered an offence under Section 379 of Indian Penal Code. The police are making further investigation.
