The Asian region, which was once known for spiritual and philosophical knowledge, is not in rat race of making armaments. It is important to have this knowledge also for our own safety. Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University is introducing courses in the subject is a welcome step. This was stated by Governor and Chancellor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
Koshyari was speaking during inauguration of Centre for Defence Studies of RTMNU, here on Wednesday. He expressed happiness over planning 11 courses in the field by the University. Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhari, Pro-VC Dr Sanjay Dudhe, Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, NCC Group Commander M Kalim were present on the dais.
The Asian countries are indulging in arms struggle to prove their might, by destroying others, has been realised by the University. It is important to impart skill-based education and training in Nagpur. In view of development in the city, such courses will help students in getting employment and also promote entrepreneurship. A large number of companies will venture in ammunition production. Not only engineers, but also mechanics and other workers will be required. The University has taken a step to provide opportunity to the students in acquiring skills for the future development, Koshyari said.
Kashyari also assured that funds and other support should not be a problem for the University, for running such courses.
Dr Chaudhari, in his introductory remarks, provided information about the courses.
Tiwari congratulated the University for starting courses which will strengthen defence of the nation.
The university will award certificate, diploma and degree in these subjects. The skill based courses can be opted by ITI passout, degree holders or Std X and XII pass students.
Representative of a French company in ammunition production, University officers, Deans were present. Dr Abhay Mudgal conducted the proceedings. Dr Dudhe proposed a vote of thanks.
